I don't agree with a fucking thing this article says. The chutzpah to believe the west can make Putin "pay" is appalling. Saying shit like "it's clear Putin intends to overthrow the democratically elected government of Georgia". First of all - you meant to say the American purchased government of Georgia. Second - the Russian army could have easily taken that entire country. They could easily have killed the Georgian President. There wouldn't have been a damn thing the over-stretched U.S. military could or would have done about it. All the Russians did was push Georgian troops back out of Ossetia, and attack a few strategic military targets. Did some nasty shit happen to innocent Georgian civilians. Of course it did. Nasty shit always happens in war. That's why you shouldn't start one.
This response from Russia was far less aggressive than the Israeli response in Lebanon. Yet when the U.N. tried to pass a resolution condemning Israels excessive use of force the U.S. vetoed.
The Georgian president is a fucking idiot, and he brought this on himself. You don't attack a bear then act surprised when you get mauled.

Why do we have to bear this? Why are there news events discussing the candidates religious values? Their religious values are in no way relevant to the job of U.S. President as there exists a clear separation of church and state.
You see it doesn't matter that McCain is opposed to abortion. The President has no power to overturn Roe Vs. Wade. George Bush is also opposed to abortion, has he overturned it? Nope - he can't. Perhaps you'll argue the long term tactic, that by appointing enough Supreme Court Justices you can force the country in a Christian direction, The plan is quite literally forcing religion down everyone's throats - and these people call themselves Americans?
Fuck these people. Religion is the only subject area in which idiots are granted respect. Religion is our inability to cope with our own mortality. It's our desperate need - of ourselves. If one studies history they can see how religion began. Ancient and native beliefs are little more than tales of life after death. Stories of comfort. As human numbers grew these stories began to develop moral imperative. I suppose a few clever elders saw this as a useful way to make the younger generation "behave". As our numbers swelled even more the concept of nations and peoples came into being. Each little nation had it's own beliefs, it's own Gods. Finally our numbers swelled so large we could not avoid each other. We were forced to encounter peoples whose beliefs were vastly different from ours. This posed a threat to our developed ideologies. How could these different beliefs all be true?
Next we have a few thousand years history of bloody war and conquest in effort to prove exactly which tale is correct - which peoples God is "the God". So far none of the fairy tales have proved supreme. Pretty lame for a bunch of all powerful Gods really.
And the apologists say, "Well, even if religion isn't true it's harmless, and it comforts people. Just in case they are right, it's better to believe than not believe". Bullshit. How many inquisitions, crusades, beheadings, stonings, witch burnings, and holy wars are necessary before we admit religion is far from fucking harmless?
